Wall Prints | 3 Colourful Art Ideas

Modern Floral

Floral artwork is in the middle of a major comeback. Instead of granny’s floral couch, abstract painted or photographed florals are a fun spin on traditional art. These framed art prints looks great in any space from a living room gallery wall to a funky office space.

Collage

These art prints are a modern digital take on old paper collages. These prints feature bold and colourful figures and objects are are littered with texture. These pieces are visually busy, so I recommend hanging them in a more minimal space, making them really stand out!

Bright Abstract

For a bold and modern addition to any space, add a colourful modern abstract. These shape or texture based pieces add lots of visual interest and can easily become a fun focal point in your space. Try to match the colours in your cushions or small decor objects around the room to the abstract to make it feel like it fits into the space.

Wall Prints | 4 Art Ideas for the Danish Pastel Aesthetic

Matisse Prints

These pieces are perfect for creating a colourful, bright gallery wall. Print sets and gallery walls are extremely prevalent in this design style. Remember when creating a gallery wall of framed art prints, to stick to an odd number of prints and to keep the frames consistent or keep a unified colour palette in the artwork so that your wall looks cohesive.

Pastel Still Life

The more minimalist framed artworks featured in this aesthetic often feature a vase and will be brightly coloured. The colour block style of these artworks lends itself perfectly to the danish pastel aesthetic.

Botanicals

The danish pastel aesthetic heavily features both florals and botanical prints. These pieces can either be in a poster style or in a colour block style. These artworks are another perfect choice for a gallery wall.

Bright Classical Art

A playful reimagining of the classical art found in your grandmother’s home. These pink. blue and green pieces feature classical figures and statues collaged with cheerful colours and elements.

Wall Prints | 5 Types of Artwork for a Guest Room

Landscapes

A spare bedroom should be a soothing comfortable space for any visitor. Having a beautiful abstract landscape painting is a great place to start. Keep the colour palette blues or neutrals for a calming effect. Coastal paintings are a perfect easy option for a spare room.

Photography

Another option is black and white photography. If your looking to design a more modern or minimalist room, add a dramatic framed black and white photograph. To keep the photography from visually weighing down your wall, try to keep the rest of the furnishings white, and maybe have some pops of grey or black accessories to match.

Floral

These framed pieces don’t have to look like your grandmother chose them for you. Add a modern abstract or line art floral to your space for a spin on a traditional guest bedroom artwork. Since these pieces tend to be detailed, stick to a simple clean frame so that the focus stays on the artwork.

Still Life

Modern still lives are incredible trendy right now in interior design. These elegant pieces usually feature a pot or vase and or some fruit. Line art or simple shapes take these old fashioned concepts into 21st century homes. I recommend buying a set, and placing them above either the bed or a side console in the room.

Neutral Abstracts

For those of you with a more Scandinavian inspired home, use a simple framed neutral abstract for your spare room. To create a peaceful Nordic space, use a thin black or neutral frame and keep the furnishings simple. Add some textured blankets and pillows on the bed to get that hygge feeling.

Wall Prints | 3 Still Life Styles for Modern Spaces

Abstract Painting

Abstract still life paintings are definitely back in fashion, these classic pieces add an elegant look to any space. They're often modern painted florals in a vase, but are painted in a more abstract and impressionistic style, making them have that more modern feeling. Since these pieces are so detailed, so try to stick to a simple back or brown frame.

Ink

If you’re looking for a more minimalist approach, a black ink still life is for you. The ink brush style adds texture and visual interest, but the monochromatic palette easily lends itself to a minimalist space. These framed artworks are bold and eye catching against a white wall.

Vintage Poster

Vintage famed posters are making a huge comeback right now. A framed Van Gogh still life looks amazing in a gallery wall or a set. These more colourful pieces suit eclectic modern space. To add that modern feeling to a vintage print, use a thin modern frame.

Wall Prints | 3 Neglected Art Areas in Your Home

Kitchen

This is a room that is often neglected design wise. Kitchens don’t have to just be  only functional, they can also be beautiful. When adding art to your kitchen it’s nice to add a pop of colour. I find since kitchens are mostly cabinets and appliances, they’re typically a simple and plain colour palette, so adding colour through art can draw the eye and create visual interest in an otherwise simple room. I would go for a bolder framed art print in a contrasting colour to your cabinets.

Bathroom

Please don’t add a cheesy word art sign in your bathroom (I know you’ve thought about it), there are so many more options out these. For bathrooms, I recommend going for a more neutral art print. Stick to neutrals, blues or pastels for a soothing colour palette. A great way to keep a cohesive palette is to match the frame or artwork to the room, for example either the counter or towels.

Laundry Room

Similar to the bathroom, laundry rooms are typically blue or white, a calming and simple colour palette. Some great art options for a laundry room would include a landscape, a floral or interesting vintage art print. Instead of a dramatic eye catching print or gallery wall, I would go for one or two simple large prints in a laundry room.

3 Types of Cottagecore Art

You may be asking yourself what cottagecore is, well it’s an aesthetic based on slow/rural living in the countryside. Imagine a country cottage in England with a huge garden. There has been a huge boom in popularity with the younger generations in regards to this style, so I figured I would give you some tips to decorate your walls with this popular style. I see a lot of information online about clothing and general design ideas for this style, but not a lot of art print specific information, so here it goes:

Landscape

You can’t have cottagecore artwork without bringing up landscapes. The foundation of this aesthetic is rural life. I would recommend a more muted vintage style palette, stick with fields, and forests. I also recommend using a painting or print instead of a photograph, since there is a strong vintage look to this design style. These are a great option in terms of art for kitchens or living rooms.

Floral

Another easy way to add some cottagecore art to your room is florals. I see a lot of posters or simple floral prints in this interior design style. Vintage botanical posters, as well as simple floral paintings would also work perfectly in a cottagecore space. I recommend sticking to either gold vintage style frames or simple black frames for a slightly more modern take on this aesthetic.

Fantastical

This style is heavily influenced by the fantastical (think fairies), so having a fantasy themed poster or print would fit right in. You don’t have to add mushrooms and witches to make the art fantastical though, try to add a Desiree Feldmann art piece for a more modern take on a floral fantasy.

3 Ways to Bring A Spring Vibe Into Your Space

Fresh Cut Leaves/Flowers

Now this one may be obvious, but having fresh cut leaves or flowers can really make a space feel so much more seasonal. I recommend either buying a potted plant (daffodils and hyacinths) or grabbing some wildflowers from outside if you’re looking for a more sustainable and budget-friendly option. In terms of decorating, I suggest either placing the plants on your table, counter or in your bedroom, just put them somewhere you will be able to see and enjoy them often.

Art

In terms of spring themed art, I recommend Matisse posters or prints, you could also go with fun floral themed wall art. Stick to brighter pastels to bring some spring to your walls. For frames, stick to lighter options such as maple or white for a more seasonal look. Switching your gallery wall or wall art with the seasons is an incredibly easy way to add some colour and design to your space.

Linens

It’s time to put away those thick darker drapes and sheets and switch to whites or creams. For an even lighter room, switch out the curtains to a thinner cotton or linen instead of heavy dark colours. It’s amazing how much more light will enter the space, the lighter colour palette will also make the space seem bigger and cleaner.

Spring Florals

With spring fast approaching, that time of year to spring clean and redecorate is upon us dear reader. Soon flowers will be popping up out of the ground, in the meantime, why not add some colour to your interior? Floral artwork can be a great way to add some colour to a space. There are a few types of floral artwork for you to choose from. You can stick with a classic water-colour, go for a modern abstract, or add a sleek piece of floral photography to your home. No matter what your personal style is, floral artwork can complement your design sense.

Watercolour Florals

Watercolour florals have been around for centuries, and it’s no wonder why, they’re elegant and classic. Watercolours tend to add a softer touch, so if you don’t want your art to be too dramatic, I would stick with a watercolour floral. This is not to say that watercolours can’t be pigmented and vibrant, but in general, these pieces tend to be a little more muted and washed out (perfect for a more subtle and traditional space).

Modern Floral Abstracts

Modern abstract florals are a great option if you’re looking for artwork that pops. These tend to have more dramatic colours and shapes. These pieces are often bright floral looking painted shapes on white backgrounds, making the colour stand out even more. If you’re someone with a more minimal or modern space, I would go in this direction.

Floral Photography

Floral photography can be a really interesting option for modern or eclectic homes. These pieces can range from macro leaf and petal photography all the way to minimalist black and white artworks. These macro shots range from closeups of the texture on the flower’s leaves all the way to water droplets on the leaves. Black and white floral photography is perfect for a feminine but modern space. I image these pieces in a Paris apartment with lots of white and black and neutral furnishings.
