3 Ways to Bring A Spring Vibe Into Your Space

Fresh Cut Leaves/Flowers

Now this one may be obvious, but having fresh cut leaves or flowers can really make a space feel so much more seasonal. I recommend either buying a potted plant (daffodils and hyacinths) or grabbing some wildflowers from outside if you’re looking for a more sustainable and budget-friendly option. In terms of decorating, I suggest either placing the plants on your table, counter or in your bedroom, just put them somewhere you will be able to see and enjoy them often.

Art

In terms of spring themed art, I recommend Matisse posters or prints, you could also go with fun floral themed wall art. Stick to brighter pastels to bring some spring to your walls. For frames, stick to lighter options such as maple or white for a more seasonal look. Switching your gallery wall or wall art with the seasons is an incredibly easy way to add some colour and design to your space.

Linens

It’s time to put away those thick darker drapes and sheets and switch to whites or creams. For an even lighter room, switch out the curtains to a thinner cotton or linen instead of heavy dark colours. It’s amazing how much more light will enter the space, the lighter colour palette will also make the space seem bigger and cleaner.

2021 Art Colour Trends

Well reader, these colours can be a little dramatic and intimidating, but no more so then when you called the doctor’s office hoping for their voicemail but instead got their grouchy secretary. Colour can be a way to bring life into a plain space, this year, let’s shake off those old 2020 feelings and add breathe some life into our spaces.

1. Aegean Teal

This bright and cheerful colour is great too add a pop of colour to a space. I recommend using artwork with this colour and keeping a white frame to make the piece stand out. You can find all kinds of artwork using this style ranging from florals and coastal paintings, all the way to bright and colourful modern art.

2. Ultimate Grey

A nice and neutral grey never fails. This colour is perfect for minimalists and neutral lovers alike. If you’re looking to keep a more subtle colour palette in your artwork, this one’s for you. Whether you prefer abstract artwork, or monochromatic landscapes, it’s easy to find grey art nowadays.

3. Lemon Yellow

This colour can be a little divisive in the interior design world, but personally, I find it cheerful and warm. This colour can be pound in abstracts, florals and bright landscapes. When using a bright colour, make sure to either keep this the only pop of colour ( a focal point in your space), or have several other yellow accessories to tie the piece of art into your room. For a dramatic colour, palette, use white, black and yellow for a modern and stunning effect.

Spring Florals

With spring fast approaching, that time of year to spring clean and redecorate is upon us dear reader. Soon flowers will be popping up out of the ground, in the meantime, why not add some colour to your interior? Floral artwork can be a great way to add some colour to a space. There are a few types of floral artwork for you to choose from. You can stick with a classic water-colour, go for a modern abstract, or add a sleek piece of floral photography to your home. No matter what your personal style is, floral artwork can complement your design sense.

Watercolour Florals

Watercolour florals have been around for centuries, and it’s no wonder why, they’re elegant and classic. Watercolours tend to add a softer touch, so if you don’t want your art to be too dramatic, I would stick with a watercolour floral. This is not to say that watercolours can’t be pigmented and vibrant, but in general, these pieces tend to be a little more muted and washed out (perfect for a more subtle and traditional space).

Modern Floral Abstracts

Modern abstract florals are a great option if you’re looking for artwork that pops. These tend to have more dramatic colours and shapes. These pieces are often bright floral looking painted shapes on white backgrounds, making the colour stand out even more. If you’re someone with a more minimal or modern space, I would go in this direction.

Floral Photography

Floral photography can be a really interesting option for modern or eclectic homes. These pieces can range from macro leaf and petal photography all the way to minimalist black and white artworks. These macro shots range from closeups of the texture on the flower’s leaves all the way to water droplets on the leaves. Black and white floral photography is perfect for a feminine but modern space. I image these pieces in a Paris apartment with lots of white and black and neutral furnishings.
