Wall Prints | 4 Tips For Layering Art on Consoles

Cohesive Frames

When creating any sort of gallery wall or set, having matching frames is the easiest way to make the art match. For a modern take, use a thin black or white frame. For a more traditional or vintage look, frame your art prints with a maple or grey wood frame.

Colour Palette

Keeping a simple colour palette is important when styling prints. Try to stick to either a warm colour palette (yellows, oranges, red and browns) or a cool colour palette (blues, greens, purples and greys) for your artwork.

Theme

Another option for choosing art prints to style together is choosing a theme. This can be as broad as portraits or landscapes, or more specific like yellow florals. When styled together even if the prints’ frames and artists aren’t the same, the prints seem to belong together.

Matching Art Sets

For an easy and modern way to create a layered art look on a console, stick to a set of matching art prints. Some popular options for this look include vintage prints, abstracts and figures. Matisse and Van Gogh vintage sets have become a trendy option for minimalists, adding some colour and texture to a simple space.

Wall Prints | 3 Neglected Art Areas in Your Home

Kitchen

This is a room that is often neglected design wise. Kitchens don’t have to just be  only functional, they can also be beautiful. When adding art to your kitchen it’s nice to add a pop of colour. I find since kitchens are mostly cabinets and appliances, they’re typically a simple and plain colour palette, so adding colour through art can draw the eye and create visual interest in an otherwise simple room. I would go for a bolder framed art print in a contrasting colour to your cabinets.

Bathroom

Please don’t add a cheesy word art sign in your bathroom (I know you’ve thought about it), there are so many more options out these. For bathrooms, I recommend going for a more neutral art print. Stick to neutrals, blues or pastels for a soothing colour palette. A great way to keep a cohesive palette is to match the frame or artwork to the room, for example either the counter or towels.

Laundry Room

Similar to the bathroom, laundry rooms are typically blue or white, a calming and simple colour palette. Some great art options for a laundry room would include a landscape, a floral or interesting vintage art print. Instead of a dramatic eye catching print or gallery wall, I would go for one or two simple large prints in a laundry room.
